Coach Dave Daubenmire Says the Funniest Things

Today The Other Paper has an excellent article where Coach Dave Daubenmire says some wacky things.

Daubenmire is the Quran burning, fetus displaying, gay bashing, birther, who is currently stalking Congressman Zack Space. But get this. He’s a good guy and I would like him if I got to know him.

“I’m sure part of what Glenn Beck does on the radio is an act—I think part of what I do on the radio is an act,” said Daubenmire. “I believe what I say, but if we were sitting around my picnic table having a hamburger, you’d walk away and you’d like me.”

Sorry Coach Dave, I don’t think so. I’d be too busy trying to keep my hamburger down.

Daubenmire was fired 10 years ago as London Ohio’s football coach because he required players to pray before and after games. Some parents objected and the ACLU sued the school district. That’s when his radicalism began.

“All that did was alert me to the fact that I saw Christian liberties under attack and began 10 years ago to stand up and defend those principles,” said Daubenmire.

Christian liberties is a code word for my religion is better than your religion and to hell with the constitution. A constitution that has allowed Christianity to become the largest religious group in this country.

According to Coach Dave, even some Christians do not understand the meaning of Christian liberties. In 2007, a group founded by Daubenmire disrupted services at several church’s who are LGBT friendly.

Daubenmire does not hate his detractors. Evidently, he knows a lot about them.

“I don’t get mad at my opposition because I used to think like them. I was a hell-raising, partying, carousing, howling dog. I’ve lived the sinful side. I know how that makes you think, makes you act”

What makes him think that everyone who opposes his beliefs is a sinner and was stupid enough to act like him? Maybe those who disagree with him have always been thoughtful committed citizens who are looking for a constructive debate with someone who has a rational mind.

Coach Dave is just as hilarious as his friend John Freshwater. These guys crack me up. Freshwater is the Mt. Vernon Ohio school teacher who thought it was funny to burn a cross into a students arm.

The parents of the student sued the school board, evidently believing that involuntarily burning a cross into their sons arm violated his civil liberties.

Daubenmire and Freshwater disagreed.

I guess Christian liberties are more important than the civil ones.
